River Runs So Deep

Once upon a time by the side of the mountain
There was valley of gold
Far beyond the pine tree there flows a river
Though it seems young yet it was old.

Myths and legends from the past
Walked through the gates
The toll man stood there stead fast
Fairies and midgets they ran through the valley
Lightning and thunder played chess.

Like waves of the blazing flames
Shining like a goddess on the moon
River smiled on the valley
And the fairies sang their own tunes

And the river runs so deep
Like a child cries for sleep
Like a blind man don’t know where he goes
Far beyond the valley
The river flows

As I sit down
And think to myself
Can you tell me whats false or true?
My life is a fake
Make belief illusion
Is this the best I can do?

Like waves of the blazing flames
Shining like a goddess on the moon
River smiled on the valley
And the fairies sang their own tunes

But the river runs so deep
Like a child cries for sleep
Like a blind man don’t know where he goes
Far beyond the valley
The river  flows.

This song talks about the different trips and hallucinations that one goes though when indulging in drugs. This song is based on a LSD trip (a form of acid drug). The first and the second verse vaguely describes a fairy tale hallucination and the singer goes on to describe the various characters as fairies, midgets, toll man etc.creating his own world of imaginations ignoring reality.

The bridge of the song brings vivid images of flames, goddess and a mystic river that becomes the center of the singer’s imagination induced by LSD.

The chorus is based on facts and imaginations as well and compliments to the theme of the mystic river which can be compared to a drug abuser who has no goal or love for life just like the river in the chorus goes on and on without destination.

The third verse talks about reality and arises questions about  reality and his guilt. He admits to the point where he states that his life is a make belief illusion and questions his conscience but the urges are so great that he backslides.

The chorus at the same time on the later part of the song talks about the beauty of mother nature which should be enjoyed as it is without any intoxication or substance abuse.
